How to Read An Ahnentafel Chart

The Ahnentafel report is a condensed report, showing all of a persons’ ancestors in each generation. The numbers by an individual’s name indicate his/her position on a family tree chart. I am #1 on my pedigree chart and my biological father and mother are numbers 2 & 3, respectively. We find the father of any male by doubling his number and we find a mother by doubling her number and adding 1. My grandfather, Henry E. Webb is number 6. His father is #12 and mother, #13. For some people, this chart is easier to read than a pedigree chart, so I included both types.
